Terminal Handling Charge (THC) at Tanjung Priok Port (Priok) has gone up by 30%, after the conventional terminal’s full management was taken over by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Pelindo II). Consequently, ships started to leave the port and moved to Cilegon Port (Banten Province).

A combination of good economic growth and favourable regulatory changes could give the Indonesian shipping and ports sector a bit of a kick-start this year. Indonesian ship imports zoomed up in the first four months of 2010, rising by 90.6% year-on-year (y-o-y) to reach a total of US$815.2mn, according to Asia Pulse news agency. The increase was mainly due to purchases by PT Pertamina, the state-owned oil and gas company, which acquired two very large crude carriers (VLCCs) and three very large gas carriers (VLGCs).

Aegean Marine Petroleum Network Inc. Takes Delivery Of Bunkering Tanker Newbuilding.

Aegean Marine Petroleum Network Inc., is an international marine fuel logistics company that markets and physically supplies refined marine fuel and lubricants to ships in port and at sea, recently announced that it has taken delivery of the Karpathos, a 6,270 dwt double-hull bunkering tanker newbuild from Qingdao Hyundai Shipyard in China. The vessel is expected to be deployed to the Company’s market in Greece.
